After working for OptiSolar for only eight months I was laid off. I was told several times by the Director and manager of my department that it was not performance based, but you can’t help but think, what could I have done differently.
At the time OptiSolar was a start up company, less that three years old. With the hard financial times we’re living in now the investor money just dried up. Massive cut backs were called for. Over 80% of the employees in the Sacramento site were let go. The Main offices in Hayward saw many people let go as well.
I was involved in the new hire orientation process, so I saw and was friendly with everybody at the Sacramento site. It’s hard to think about everybody that was let-go.
Dan, there was nothing you could’ve done to prevent the RIF at OptiSolar. Absolutely correct that it was not performance based….you were one of the Key Contributors at that OptiSolar site. You were very cordial and professional. I hope that we will be able to work together again soon!
